Google acquires some HTC engineers for $1.1 billion, hopes to make best Pixel phone in the world

Image
Google is buying part of HTC, or more specifically the HTC team that collaborated with Google on creating the Pixel phones. Last year HTC helped Google make the Pixel and Pixel Xl phones while this year the company has reportedly helped the company create the Pixel 2. Google said that its deal with HTC was more of talent acquisition, although this one is a pretty expensive people hiring considering Google is paying $1.1 billion to HTC for it. The deal comes hours after HTC announced that it is set to halt trading of its shares on Wednesday. Apart from acquiring a set of engineers and resources that HTC anyways devoted to Pixel phones, Google will also acquire non-exclusive rights to some HTC intellectual property. This seemingly refers to the technologies that are already inside the HTC phones and will probably end up in Google Pixel phones. One example will be the "squeezable frame" that HTC has inside the U11 and that Google is also reportedly putting in the Pixel

iPhone X's A11 Bionic Chip Destroys Competition in Geekbench Benchmark Results

Image
The iPhone X was announced last week with many highlights including Face ID, an almost bezel-less OLED display, and a really fast A11 Bionic chipset - something the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus also sport. The SoC has six CPU cores, with the ability to run all of them simultaneously. How Microsoft Is Hiding Inside Apple

Image
As Apple rolls out the latest version of iOS to the public, developers around the world are updating applications to iOS 11, ensuring both continuity and compatibility of the code as well as keeping users engaged with the experience. One of those developers is Microsoft. While Windows 10 On Mobile remains a niche operating system that is prized by a small and dedicated community (mainly in the enterprise space), Redmond’s mobile ambitions have not been diminished. Instead its efforts are focused on bringing and keeping users involved with its cloud-based services. Apple iPhone X stock expected to be low until 2018, says KGI analyst

Image
Apple  is unlikely to meet the demand for the iPhone X until next year, making it hard for buyers to buy the tenth anniversary iPhone, according to well-known KGI securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Based on an investor note seen by  MacRumors , Kuo says more people would be interested in buying the most expensive iPhone than Apple’s supply chain can actually make. Ming-Chi Kuo cites “supply constraints” as the reason why Apple can’t make enough iPhone X smartphones. “Due to supply constraints, we expect market demand won’t be fully met before 1H18, said Kuo. It’s unlikely Apple will match the demand for the iPhone X until 2018. All of which means that consumers have to wait a big longer to get their hands on the iPhone X due to supply issues. Kuo previously said that Apple could produce only 10,000 units of the iPhone X per day, but the number might go up as Apple ramps up the production. The analyst does say that he believes the iPhone X shipments to be around 40 million units for

Mi A1 review: Xiaomi's first non-MIUI midrange flagship killer

Image
It wouldn’t be wrong to state that Xiaomi offers some of the best smartphones within the affordable category. We have reviewed all of their Indian releases and definitely have been impressed with what they offer in their respective price brackets — the Redmi 4  is the most affordable all-rounder with a large fuel tank, the Redmi Note 4  is definitely a killer all-rounder smartphone and the Mi Max 2 is an impressive phablet with a great build and an awesome battery life. And now Xiaomi's newly launched Mi A1 is their first attempt with a dual camera in India, and to make things even sweeter, it runs on stock Android. Hold on! Stock Android on a Xiaomi smartphone? Isn't Xiaomi all about MIUI? You read it right! This one comes as an Android One smartphone, catered especially for a stock operating system. Android One was almost left dead by Google a few years ago — but its back with a bang. The Xiaomi Mi A1 is an attempt at reviving the Android One series, whi
